The Stooges’ Fun House captures the band at their most volatile, pushing blues based rock into something rawer, louder, and increasingly unpredictable. Iggy Pop’s ferocious vocals collide with Ron Asheton’s distorted guitar, Dave Alexander’s rumbling bass, and Scott Asheton’s relentless drumming. Steve Mackay’s saxophone adds another layer of chaos, particularly on “1970” and the sprawling “L.A. Blues.” Recorded with producer Don Gallucci in 1970, the album moves from tightly wound rock songs into extended bursts of noise and improvisation, laying important groundwork for punk and noise rock.
