John Coltrane - BALLADS (Verve Essential Vinyl Series Remaster) LP

John Coltrane’s Ballads features the saxophonist in a more restrained setting, joined by McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones. Recorded in 1961 and 1962, the album focuses on standards and love songs, with Coltrane favoring warm, lyrical phrasing over the intensity of his more exploratory work. Tracks like “Say It (Over And Over Again)” and “You Don't Know What Love Is” showcase the quartet’s understated interplay and melodic sensitivity.
