Released in 1977, Low marked a dramatic shift in David Bowie’s sound, blending experimental rock, electronic textures, ambient music, and fractured pop songwriting. Recorded largely in Berlin with producer Tony Visconti and featuring Brian Eno’s influential contributions, the album is spare, strange, and deeply atmospheric.

The first side pairs concise, rhythm-driven songs like “Sound And Vision,” “Be My Wife,” and “Breaking Glass” with the tense, restless energy of Bowie’s Berlin period. The second side moves almost entirely into instrumental territory, with expansive pieces such as “Warszawa,” “Art Decade,” and “Subterraneans” creating a haunting, cinematic atmosphere. Low remains one of Bowie’s most adventurous and influential records.
